The furthest north we went was Tanquary Fiord. Located At 81 degrees north, it’s on one of the coasts of Ellesmere and since one can only currently get there via aircraft or icebreaker, there is little human habitation.
Above a certain point, plant life is low to the ground and when Autumn comes the ground reveals the changes with this incredible color palette. I sat here for about 10 minutes just listening to my breath as it mingled with the all-encompassing silence coupled with an infrequent sound of water trickling from ice in the stream.
